I just purchased a 1975 FJ40, and the previous owner, like me, has little to no knowledge about automotive maintenance. Back to the question, the previous owner stated that I needed to add a lead additive each time I fuel up, or else, he did not know. The guy at local shop thought that it may have to do with the lead additive coating the valves and corresponding brass fitings that go along with it.
