Hi all, pardon my ignorance, but I have a question that I wasn't able to answer by searching.
Anyway, new-to-me FJ62. I'm pulling apart the front end to fix a leak at the front LH knuckle, and to repair what I thought was a faulty Aisin locking hub. The further I got in, though, the more it seemed to not be the hub, i.e. the axle spins freely in my hand no matter what. The vehicle is in 4wd and I cannot spin the front drive shaft by hand, yet the axle appears to be not anchored to anything.
Am I correct that this is not normal behavior for the axle to spin freely under these conditions?
