I’m normally in the 60 and 70 series forum. But now I’ll be in this forum a bit. I just got my Oldest son a car for college. My good friend bought this new and commuted in it til a month ago. 539k miles original except heads were replaced at 300k. Runs great and shifts great and 4x4 works. Replacing front lower ball joints and needle bearing in front diff and all fluids and just drive it!

That looks great for age but unbelievable for mileage. I ve been looking for one locally and most with 150k miles don’t look that well taken care of.
You already touched on the ball joints that take these out. They are great little trucks. I still miss mine.
The interiors didn’t hold up the best unless taken care of. My driver seat looked like that 18 years ago on mine with just 70k miles. The seat side piece breaks off very easily and tabs snap if I remember. I think I saw on a fb page I watch (looking for a low mileage one to get back in the platform) that some aftermarket seat sides are avail on like Amazon. I’ll go look for the link. Most cosmetic parts are frustratingly not available for them anymore from Toyota but aftermarket and 3d printing is helping.

Someone posted today in taco group. Worth checking out. They said oem was no longer avail or costs many times more. I enjoy these trucks. Interesting to see one go so long. Post updates if you feel like it. Hope it treats him well

There is a metal plate that fits to the seat that alleviates the broken trim piece on the Taco seats. Maybe search on Tacomaworld.

I second tacomaworld. I purchased the metal plate from ebay for my 2004 DC but have not gotten around to putting it on.
