The cruiser I'm looking to buy has a carb problem namely:

"The previous owner had opted to cut the hard fuel line just before it
got to the carb so they could add a cheapo fuel filter. As this is
the same side the exhaust manifold is on, I wanted to use the stock
filter and fix the possible safety problem.

I bought a used line from Specter Off Road. Received it, installed
it, and started up the Cruiser. It died almost immediately.
Discovered through investigation that the fuel line had a LOT of dirt
in it, and all that went straight into the carb."

How hard is it to rebuild a stock carb for this year?

Suggestions?

Biggest problem is the check balls.
The kit comes with new ones. Fortunately. I lost one in the carpet on my
balcony.

Seriously, though. If you've ever rebuilt a carb with secondary throttle,
you shouldn't have too much trouble with an Aisin.
And if you do, post up, there are some here who have done it and can help
get you out of a jam.

But, before you go getting into all that, spray some carb clean into the fuel
inlet. Then pull the 2 bowl drains and flush some more carb clean through
it. That should get most of the crap out. Hook everything back up and try
to start it. Use more carb clean in the throttle body. If all that don't work,
then do the rebuild.

Ok, good stuff.

Only becuase I'm not familar with the carburated yotas (only had EFI up to now) I'm a lil hesitant of what could be waiting for me. :D

ya never know...

Carbs are not as mysterious as you might think. If you tackle it just take your time, be clean and be mindful of small parts like springs and check the balls that hj60 mentioned. Cleanliness counts. Hopefully whatever kit you get will have a nice exploded assembly drawing to show where all the parts go. Did I mention making sure everything is clean when you put it together?

This is a great application for a digital camera. Shoot a ton of detail pictures as you take it apart, if it goes back together well good deal, if not refer to the pictures to bail you out.
