Hi guys, as the title suggest im chasing some new window felts for all 4 doors on my 88 hj61. At the moment it has chrome and they are worn out so i want them gone.

I have read every post that comes up in the search function, and tried to contact the people supplying them but to no avail..

Do any of the aussy members know of a supplier here in aus? If not I am willing to fix up one of you yank members with some beer if you are able to order the new seals and felts without chrome then ship them to me in aus!

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys

Which rubbers exactly maat? I replaced all mine

The ones along the base of each window glass that clip to the door,

On another note im looking into a minelab at the momen mate, might be up
For a trip to kal soon if everything goes weLl

Oh ok,the aftermarket ones are rubbish,i had sum on a fj60 few years back, dont go there. The aftermarket bailey channel stuff is good.
You cant get them from toyota anymore,i ordered 75 series ones or 78?
Ive got a 75 troopy too,had a look and thought yep but they mount a little diffent,i had to put little cuts in the door for the plastic clips to fit properly, they come with the plastic clips on them and the 75 and 60 doors are nearly identical where the rubbers go. Except for the small slots,i just measured them off the troopy and drilled small holes then filed away. Had to cut the rubbers also, they are longer.
Probably $300 odd from toyota for all 4 doors.
I did this cause at least i know i can get 78 series ones in the future if need be.
There is a pic in my build thread im sure.
Ive got an idea that i seen some 60 series doors with the slots and plastic clips,i think the early 60s had steel clips later had the plastic clips?
I think i replaced one or two doors, geez i cant remember, have a look if you have steel clips holding them on or plastic ones, you might allready have the little slots in the doors. If so then all you have to do is cut them to lenght and slide the plastic clips along to line up with the slots.
Yeah give us a yell if you come up prospecting,im just getting back into it.

Any word on good quality felts and seals in the USA? With everyone restoring their rides are you putting the old worn out window felt and seals on? Please help with a supplier as mine are in shambles and I feel if I pull them off for a paint they will not be usable at all. Thanks.

Believe that they are still available from Toyota. Hit up Beno/SamStewart/CDan/etc as they will know the part numbers and get you what you need if they are still available.

Thank you Greg. Yeah the search engine is a little lacking at times. I searched window felt and seals and got two threads, this one and one about SOR sliding windows. So I brought this one back.

My fault for not just searching either felt or seals separately. When searched alone I got back hundreds of threads. Sent a PM to Beno after finding what I was looking for. :roll eyes:

Thanks again for your help.

Have you gone to Wagongear.com? They sell window lock strip welt set to replace the chrome! If your window caskets are in good shape they work good. If they are frayed or very old the welt may not stay seated.

Hi, I just bought some from John at Toyota of Dallas last week. Mike

OOS as of today.

what about rare spares? they are the only ones with some of the fj55 rubber left on the earf. they are from down unda, no?

Forgive me for the dumb question but I need to replace all this stuff too; what is the part called that the window slides up and down in, and can you replace the felt or whatever that's in it? I've always just called it the window track but not sure if that's the correct name or not.

So here is the quick internal Toyota designations:

The black rubber that is on the outside of the door frame, where the window goes into the door completely, and where your arm rests when you have it hanging out the of the window are called "belt mouldings" or exterior weatherstrips. The interior ones are just weatherstrips, inner.

The rubber track that the window actually "rides" in when you bring it up and down are called "runs" since the window "runs" within the rubber channel.

Clear as MUD? :)

Are the no-chrome belt mouldings still available? You happen to have P/Ns for them if they are?

They are available and have been posted many times in the 60 section.

That said, here they are again:

68160-90A02
68210-90A02
68180-90A01
68230-90A01

These will do all 4 doors of a 60 or a 62. These are black.

So if you want to retain the outer chrome molding, is there a different plastic clip? The clips that come on the outer weather strip won't mount up with the chrome trim piece.
