So this is quite the long thread and I looked through it briefly. I am interested in getting one of these racks. My question is I have the stock rack on currently on my 95. Is it possible to leave old rack on? I’m afraid to see what’s underneath!!!

If you want to install all of the included rack bars then no. I put one on mine over the factory rack for transport home with some of the middle bars removed. actually one 3 bars per slot in the first 3 slots and last ones. Middle left open

Thx for the quick reply. Ideally I need to remove and repair or seal the old holes somehow. Does anyone have pics of fixing the old rack holes or how they sealed them up?

That's a great thread.

Once you have a new rack back on there you really wont see the patches over the old roof rack points, so it really comes down to dealing with any rusty spots and getting the holes plugged.

Thats how i plugged mine

me too and it's worked out fine. I've washed it about five times with no leaks knock wood.

got these stout awning brackets from Patrick added onto the rack. Forgive the Christmas lights. Somebody tell me if I have them on upside down. I'm convinced you could pick up the truck by this rack!

That is the orientation that i have mine placed.

hey Patrick any news on the Canoe roller?

I want one of these racks but I need some help.

Can someone measure from the gutter to the highest point on the rack?? I'm scare my cruiser wont fit in my garage with rack on. Thanks.

5 and 3/8" from gutter to top of rack. If you gave yourself 6", I would think you would be fine.

This measurement is taken from a point on the gutter between the rear passenger door and the slider window. Even though the gutter curves along the length of the truck, the rack sits parallel (level) to the top of the truck. (Apologies for the pic quality. Camera and my hands don't work well in the dark at 25 degrees :))

The cross bars will not clear the factory rack. So you can tell from that pic that the rack is an inch or less taller than the factory rack.

These are from my 80 going in my 7" garage door. My truck has a Slee 4" lift and 35's and it clears by a bunch. HTH

update needed.

I think since you just ordered a 60 series rack it might just have a roller in the package for some product testing. Interested?

@gt7058a Chris needs one too for his 100.

i love being a factory tester!!!!

Oh boy, what'd I do?
:worms:
