We are Rugged Bound Supply Co. based in Houston, TX. We are the importers and distributors of Big Country 4x4 gear from South Africa.

Big Country 4x4 have been around for about 18 years and their racks have been around for even longer - back to the early 1990's. Known in South Africa for rugged, no-nonsense off-road gear with no compromises, we are proud to bring their products to the US market. Some of their products have been direct-imported at great expense or have been the inspiration for some other fabricators who made their own versions of these products in their absence. We are excited to offer a small but growing portion of their vast range of products from our Houston-based inventory to the entire US.

To celebrate our MUD launch, we are going to be offering a Group buy with 25-30% discounts, limited quantity, on pre-order basis, in each tech section on MUD to coincide with our next shipment leaving Q1 2021: welded aluminum racks, gull wing windows, drawer systems, tailgate storage lids and some vehicle specific items.

  • Big Country 4x4 Gull Wings have been around for about 15 years, starting with the 80 series Land Cruisers
  • Their design is not for everyone: these are heavy duty doors, not window seal inserts
  • They do require drilling because they are hinged to the vehicle, not inserted inside the window rubber
  • Made from 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum sheeting welded together, laser cut and roll formed to fit the vehicle perfectly
  • These doors are bolted to a custom extruded heavy-duty track, 3/16 – ¼” wall thickness via 3 stainless steel hinges
  • Dustproof, waterproof, lockable, and made to do a job

Is there a separate thread for the group buys? Curious on details and pricing for the items.
Yes we will post a dedicated group buy thread soon.

Broadly speaking, we ship every month or 2 from South Africa and it will be for our March container to give everyone time to get in on the deal.

Group Buy deadline will be Feb 15th to lock in the build plan.
Vessel ships mid-March, arrives in Houston mid-April.

For the 80 series the cost of our racks, drawers and gull wings will be effectively 20-30% off retail after shipping is factored in. We have a national LTL agreement and pass all the savings on.

Same here, interested in the tailgate storage, especially if we get more stimulus $$$$$. That will certainly stimulate my urge to work on the old cruiser.

Interested in the tailgate storage, please pm final price after discount and shipping to Seattle-Wa 98133

How do we sign up for the group buy? Is there a discount code or we have to let you know what items?
Hey there - for the sake of others reading this answer: we have a dedicated group buy thread on the tech forum - but to participate:
1. Send us a PM with your order, name, phone #, address, email.
2. We will send you an invoice for the deposit from our website that you can checkout via a link

Interested in buying the tailgate lids for 80 series
You are in luck, we have a few extra's in the shipment for 80 tailgate lids. Send us a PM with your details (name, email, phone, address) and we can set you up with an invoice - we will honor the group buy price for you.

Loading day has arrived! We are packing the container in South Africa as of last night, it will be on the road to the port by Thursday and sailing next week . Current ETA in Houston is April 14th but the usual sea cargo delays by ports and weather are always a risk. However, this is our current update. For those who have not yet paid the balance invoice please do so immediately.
