My wife had a new Alpine stereo/CD player installed for my B-day on Sat. She also replaced the 4 door speakers with some new Pioneers. There are 3 speakers in the rear, 2 small ones mounted in the ceiling and one round one on the right side. I tore those all out today B/C they do not work. My question is what is the bottom one/ I sit just a speaker or is it a Sub woofer? There is a transformer or something attached to it and it appears that maybe the two small ones from the ceiling are also tied into it. Has Anyone replace these? If so with what. Thanks

The lower one is the factory "sub" and if it's actually working, most just disconnect and find a better use for the space. The upper two are also agreed to be pretty useless. Search the 80's section for "speakers" or "stereo" and you will find all kinds of reading. Sounds like you already have a nice upgrade with 4 new speakers and a headunit.

If anything buy a new sub and amp. Disconnect the three speakers, they are useless. I chose to have a stand-alone sub others have modified the area where the existing sub is located. To really kick it up a notch add two amps, 1/4 channel and one mono and enjoy....major difference than just running of the tuner. It is up to you.

Thanks, After ready some older posts on the subject i guess I'll just say screw the rear speakers, especially since the seats are gone back there. Who's gonna hear it anyway? I'm just happy to be able to see what station is on without waiting for a commercial from the radio station, and theCD player actually plays a CD. Later
