If it is a 75 FJ40 the alternator is incorrect. That may or may not have an impact. What is the diameter of the pulley?
This one is correct.

Note: If you look carefully you will see the number on the fan belt is 90916-02047. That number is replaced by 99343-11265-77.
I'm referring to the shape and mounting points.

this thread topic intrigues me a bit 🤔

so i would like to share some NITCH's i have scooped up along the way on my
TEq journey ...

- i would like and invite @cruiserdan to chime in here too , his skill-set in Toyota Genuine Parts 411 far out-weight mine ..................fyi

- the original installed drive belt was 90919-02047 , its clearly stamped GHOST still ledgable in photo #1

- the original Microfiche states it to be 1275mm long in circumference ........

- at one point in the late 1980's early 1990's TOYOTA started Superseding drive belt part #'s with the introduction and more frequent use of only 1 serpentine belt

in place of the multi-belts accessory drive system .......

- we can relate all things LAND CRUISER in the fact the 3FE had Three Drive Belts , the 1FZ-FE only Two , then the 2UZ-FE finally only one serpentine belt

- the LAST 5 Digits of the current 1975 FJ40 Alternator Belt are -11265 , the final four are 1265

- 1265 = 1265mm long belt

- the new replacement belt here should actually be 10mm shorter in overall length , NOT LONGER

- so ..............

- NOTE : this alternative anything Toyota drive belts part # to Length size spec's is NOT a prefect science and has part #'s gaps all over the production time lines of all Toyota vehicle modals

- the 1975 2F USA Spec. Alternator Adjustment BAR part # 16381-61010

- it's application 1/75-6/80 USA Spec. 2F and Canada too

- in 7/80-10/83 USA-Spec. 2F TOYOTA added the return feature / slider adjustment block

- its part # 16381-61011

- i have 100% period correct reproduced the 16381-61011 in non-deflecting stainless steel down to the millimeter in accuracy , and a digital water jetting machine spits them out for 100% consistency too

- i know the 61011 is overall longer radius , but that's due to the return feature needed at the top , the actual TRAVEL ID Radios for the alternator top pivot TAB remained the same .........

- i have never seen a shorter 2F Early NON-SLIDER adjust-bar ?

- does anyone have a Early 16381-61010 to compare to here ?

- i could take various TECH. measurements of my 61011 if it could help ?

- if another member has a verified 1/75-6/80 16381-61010 , we can get 1 stop closer to a solid answer here ?

- lastly , however UNCOMMON , i have seen various mis-marked toyota japan and usa maker parts with wrong part numbers , but it is so dam rare its simply would surprise the s#it out of me if this OEM Mitsubishi Bando Made in the USA particular belt was a defect miss-marked one ?

- below i have quant x FIVE NOS 99343-011265-77 drive belts oem some are made in JAPAN , some in the USA ,,,,,,,,,,

i can try to measure 1 or all of them using what ever method is suggested by @cruiserdan .......... /

The ear (for the adjusting bolt) on your alternator is further from the crankshaft pulley than the one in @cruiserdan's photo. I think I have two different alternators in the basement that match your photo and his photo, I'll go snap a photo of them side by side.

You've got the one on the right. The one on the left has a tag, but the Toyota part number is illegible. The NipponDenso part number ends in -5930. One thing I've never been able to find online is a cross-reference between Toyota and NipponDenso part numbers - that would be especially helpful for vacuum advancers.

the Passenger side UPPER USA Spec. mounting location requires a 12 & 6 STRAIGHT TABS front face framed nippondenso unit PERIOD !

a clocked 10AM or 2PM unit WILL NOT WORK , no way Jose ......

none of the photos thus far show the CLOCKING POSITIONS in a way to determine this ?

i can say ....i think @4Cruisers just solved the TEq drive belts mystery here ..............

dam your good John ! 🍻

take me to your leader sir .......

It's not the belt, it's the alternator. If you use an older alternator that was intended for installation low on the driver's side, the ear for the tensioning bracket is further to the passenger side than the correct alternator.

This cuts down the tensioning ability by an inch or two.

I had never though the actual alternator would be different but it is. It's not only older vs newer, 2F US alternator vs all other cases.
Considering the very small difference between those alternators the mismatch between US market parts and non-US ones is very easy on this...

For a US 02/1975 FJ40 alternator PN should be: 27020-61010
Non-US 02/1975 FJ40 alternator PN should be: 27020-60071 (which is the same or superseeded from the F alternator)

your INCORRECT current clocking TAB alternator 2 and 6 first tech photo

and below that a 1975 STRAIGHT TABS unit correct profile 12 and 6

everyone give a big shout out to @4Cruisers , John is
DR. NipponDenso .........🍻🍻

Thank you for this.

Now to find a smaller belt until I can source a decent used or re-built alternator.

Hmm, Cruiser Corps has remanufactured alternators for:
1967-1/1975 $139.90
1/1975-9/1977 $133.98

Classic Cruisers has an OEM Remanufactured one 1972-1975 $274.99

BTB Products has an OEM restored one (27020-61012) 1968-1977 on Backorder $199.99

So strange the different year ranges!

That 40 looks pretty nice, what you should really do is buy the correct alternator, belt, and updated tensioning slider bar kit (we spent a lot of time on the slider bar to make it perfect) from @ToyotaMatt

And one of my correct fuel filter brackets to fix that completely un-safe fuel filter location.

All these $$$ recommendations makes one think that @Bluetribal needs a gofundme page.....;)

What are you doing with your takeoffs? @daveb is looking at suspension options RIGHT NOW!
I will be traveling as far south as Dana Point in just over a week.😉
