Hi All,

I've been lurking on the forum for some time learning about FJ40s. I've been wanting one for years and I'm finally getting serious about my search.

In the reading I've done it seems like a 350 with a SM420 tranny might be a good fit as I do plan to go off-road and want that lower gear.

I don't know a lot but I will contribute what I can to the community, especially as I learn.

You've also got an incredible asset in that there's a local club, the Capital Cruisers, full of great guys eager to help a newb get started on the right foot. You should take a few minutes and introduce yourself in their clubhouse.

Also good trany choice is the sm465, love mine.
A lot of different set ups to enjoy a 40.
