Hello everyone ! I’d like to thank all of you who post and answer questions on this forum , it was very useful in helping me pick out my cruiser . I picked up a 2000 with 298K on it online & out of state with a pretty good dealer maintenance history all the way up to 293k . I would’ve never known about the Toyota owners website had it not been for you guys . I know everything done and or recommend it at the last major service at 286k in 2018 and looks like it was all done . Thanks again for all the help .

Ok on hose clamps & spare , heater T’s were just replaced in August but will double check . I called the 3 shops on the Carfax that worked on it from 2013 (245k miles) on and they told me what they did , I was looking for the last timing belt replacement , didn’t notice the sticker on the air cleaner box in pictures the dealer sent me for 3 days. Thanks

Yesterday I had a little time so I looked at heater t’s and they only replaced one that was leaking . My game plan was to drive it around a little bit and taking in at 300,000 miles for anything I discovered and timing belt inspection , aside from the radiator hoses the heater hoses look a little old to me . Timing belt only has 35,000 miles on it 6 years old . Being that I’m not going to do the work myself should I just take it to the dealer since all the right parts are there anyways , or my friend that owns the radiator shop ? Take cost out of the equation would you do . Thanks

The beauty of an Arizona "native" chassis and undercarriage cannot be understated, no a spec of rust to be seen anywhere, no crust. Congratulations on your find!

For shop work it really depends. At least with the Toyota dealership, something gets screwed up you aren't potentially hurting a friendship. But that also depends on how good the dealership is. I would rather talk with the guys in the club to get a shop recommendation. Then go from there and see what the vibe is when you go see said shop. LC specialist shop will always trump all if they are well regarded.

I’d start by ditching those worm drive clamps, which look to have been over tightened and chewing up the hoses anyway, specifically the ones on the heater T, then inspect the hoses they were installed to and replace those as needed with either OEM or Gates hoses. I’d also replace the heater T’s with 80 series pull offs and never deal with them again, since the 80 ones were brass from the factory.

Right replacing all hoses & clamps at the same time buying parts & coolant from Toyota .
