I've posted an intro on the 60's board. Figured I'd post up here as well.

Hi'dee!

New to Landcruisers, but not at all new to owning older, always something to work on, vehicles.

When I bought this '82 FJ60 a couple weeks ago, I was just looking for a cheap, dependable daily driver. I was leaning toward another 85'ish Volvo when I came across this one. I'm really enjoying getting to know her and look forward to getting her good and road-trip worthy.

Just prior to this vehicle, I was fixing up / driving my father-in-law's VW Westfalia. That was a fun job. And I mention that to ask about this community. The local Aircoolers community have a monthly hang out night too. But they also occasionally throw together a 'shop night' where folks would meet at someone's garage and help each other fix various things. Any of that going on here? Just curious.

I met Worldspan yesterday and we had a good visit comparing our LCs and talking about de-smoging mine. And I'll be heading over to visit Edwin sometime today or tomorrow. I look forward to meeting more of you in the future.

Til then, drive safe and don't forget to check your oil.

No buff and wax for her. She's a dirty rat, soon to be a work of art.

Looks like she's pretty straight, how is it mechanically? or is it a pretty good runner? Look forward to seing you at a meeting (or gathering for that matter). Good looking truck.

Welcome. That is a nice looking tree in the background.

I am new as well, the folks here are a great source of information but I ended up dropping my 40 off today at lcspec.com.

Your truck is the same color as my truck, well, one of the colors that are on my 40 that is....

Thanks for the welcome!

Mechanically she's so-so. Good compression, only a couple of dings, no significant rust, and a fair interior. She needs a valve adjustment (this weekend's project), steering tightened(also this weekend), all the 90 wt. oils replaced, speedo connected, and the e-brake sticking issue greased out(PB working on it as we speak). She's sometimes picky about how you hold your mouth when starting at normal temp, has a leak which I'm hoping is only the oil pan gasket, and she's gonna get de-smoged real soon (I think she's as excited about that as I am).

That should be enough excuses to keep me away from chores for a while, don't you think? ;)

I met Edwin today. Can't say enough good things about him. Scored a couple of used parts and learned several good tips. Such as, there's a line on the fly wheel which marks TDC. I missed that when I was reading thru the FSM.

Welcome! Bring it to the next meeting! But I don't think we are having a meeting this month.

Last Tuesday of each month @ 7pm - Rudy's BBQ 11570 Research Blvd Austin, TX 78759 -

Brian --- Good meeting with you the other day!
