New to land cruisers (1 Viewer)

Im new to land cruisers and 4x4's in general. Im going to look at a 1969 40 this weekend and want to know what to look for and what type of questions to ask. Theres no hardtop and its stock.

mine is a 69....well, kinda...

3-speed column shift, coarse birfs, likely no cage...

Take pics, post a couple here, you'll get piles of opinions and such....and never buy the first one, unless it's damn cheap (my 69 ran $200 from a junkpile )

You got your 69 from a junk pile did it run was it in good condition. I was told the guy probly will sell it for 2k but im not sure yet from how much yours cost then ill have to reconsider the price. Thanks

For $2K it better be running and not have a lot of rust. Make sure you check the compression. Rebuilds on the F and 2F are expensive.

$200 was not running, parts only, no title, basket case....they dropped it on a trailer with a forklift and I tied the ass to a tree to pull it off

Paid $75 for a 1972 as well....junk frame, supposed to run, rotten tub, etc...

these are MAJOR long-term builders or parts only projects....

my running rig was $1800....and it was a basket case....

$2k can be a good price if the body is decent and the frame is solid....

where are you located?
there is probably somebody(from here) that would be willing to either look at for you, or go along with you to look it over.
region does play a part on cost(and rust).

1800 sounds like it'll have rust or running issues. g

You need to buy a remote starter and compression Gauge
Disconnect the pos from the Starter
Connect the Remote starter.
Remove Plug 1
Place the gauge in the plu hole.
Use the remote starter to turn the engine over a few times.
Write down the reading
Reset the gauge
Replace the plug and wire.
Do the same for plugs 2-6.

Or you could pay a shop about $100 or less to do it
