Hey guys and gals

I just moved temperately to Albuquerque and I am thinking my 80 is needing some new brakes in the rear. I have a bunch of hand tools with me but no garage and no jack stands. So for the first time in a long time I think some one else is going to have to do the work for me. So can any one recommend a good shop that will replace the brake pads with 100 series pads and turn the rotors.

Also where's all the good wheeling around here do you guys have any group rides formal or informal planed I'll be around till June or July.

Hi Noah,
First, you don't want the 100-Series pads for the rear. They will fit the front on your '96 but not the rear. Most people have found that turning the rotors is not a good idea; at least not the front rotors. You can buy all your Toyota parts from Cruiserdan here in Albuquerque. He is the parts manager at American Toyota and if you mention 'Mud you will get a very nice discount.

Read the recent posts here in the High Desert Cruiser club section. A group of local guys are going out to the Rio Puerco area at noon on Saturday.

I recommend buying new front rotors if you need them and 100-Series pads for the front. You'll have to pitch the anti-squeal shims. As for the rears, the 80 is not as hard on rear brakes as the front. Why are you planning to get the rears turned? Are you getting a vibration up through the seat when braking?

The CDL switch & Dan's pin-7 mod are great first projects. You'll get full control manual control over the center diff locking.

If you are in the market for an OME lift and/or aggressive tires then check out my "For Sale" post.

NStimac,

Was your 70 parked at the Flying Star in Corrales a few weeks ago. I saw one there and they are as rare as hen's teeth in these parts...
