About to pull the trigger on new tires. I have been quoted $740 out the door on either Nitto's or Hankooks RF10's. (285/75/16).

I am most likely going with the RF10's. They have had positive reviews, are a new design and are from a tire guy that I want to give my business to

Questions as follows

1) Is this a fair price?
2) Am I making a mistake not looking at any other for a similar price (Goodrichs were too expensive)?

Regards

Nitto's have been discussed LOTS on this board, but not too much about the Hankook's. Looking at the tread design, they look pretty good, with a decent amount of siping. Give 'em a shot and let us know how they work :)

Some reviews from online....

Tire Reviews - Discount Tire Direct

I have loved both the Toyo Open Country AT"s and also the Revo's, but certainly different price points...

Buy the best tire for your driving needs and save a few bucks somewhere else. Tires are the single most important safety and performance part on the vehicle.

Don't know anything about the Hankook's other than that they look sharp on the vehicles I've seen.

Price seems fair. I just paid $980 for New Revo 2s in 285/75/r16 with lifetime road force balance. Make sure it includes the road hazard certificates/lifetime balance ect...

Actually I was wrong. The Hankooks are coming in at $680 out of the door. Sounds like a good deal to me

OK . Have new tires on. They look frigging huge in the wheel wells and am still concerned that they may rub on a hard bump. Lock to lock the seemed fine .

My tire guy was convinced they would rub so I will just wait and see

Next step is to install the Slee AHC controller before I head to Yosemite in December

So far so good. Went over a couple of speed bumps at speed and seemed OK. I think if I have issues it will be while going over a bump at full lock. Hopefully that will be a rare occurrence

Only complaint from better half is that steering was not as smooth as with Dunlops. I also noticed this at first but after driving for weekend it feels the same

All in all I am very happy with the new shoes. Now need a reason to go exploring. Have to wait until end of Kids Soccer season though

hankook rf 10 noisy tires?

Hi. This is Daniel, from Barcelona, Spain. I would like to know your opinion about the hankook dynapro rf 10. particularly I am interested on road noise. ¿Did you find these tires a little bit noisy?¿Too much road noise? I am running mickey thompson atz plus and I am fed up with humming noise. I am thinking on changing to hankook.

Thank you for your comments.

Daniel

i am running Hankook 315/75/16's MT's and the road noise is minimal. I've run Mickey Thompsons on my 60 and they were way louder.

285/75/16 don't even come close to rubbing! Oh, and the tire guy seems to always be wrong when it comes to Land Cruisers, they think it's just another typical SUV.
