Howdy folks;

Refering to a post on 4x4 wire on a Mobi Arc 90 Amp stator in Denso dynamo

anyone attmept such a thing in their OEM dynamo

55 amp on the stock Denso seems paltry - with a/c , lights, both wipers going and rear defrost - drain city.

aux lights etc........

I just purchased a cheap OEM Denso for my 2L-T just to replace the double pulley- so I have a dynamo to mess with - Local electrical shoppe guyz told me these combo dynamos are a P.I.A. do to the shaft and seal

anyone rebuild ?
opinions

rather keep it as stock looking in the bay as possible

Cheers thanks

i had to get mine rebuilt for the 24V PZJ70, we talked about larger alternators for this unit and after a quick search we couldn't come up with a higher amp unit...there is a chev unit that might be retrofitted...

howdy Crusher:

I started my hunt - Called Rick at Broadway electrical in San Diego - talked about the rectifier being the problem- the Stator is an easy modification

The Hitachi off an Isuzu NPR was spoke of - and those can be had easily

Just what will it take to get one fit/ will it fit etc.....

cheers ya

Howdy japan 4x4:

Cheers thanks for that - i sent an email - I know they are pricey and have heard a few unkind words about them - but open to see what they offer

I rather like the idea of the Hitachi from the NPR Isuzu - 80 amp in stock form- probably very easy to get rebuilds etc...

cheers ya

Yeah, I have looked at the Hitachi as well. There are some models that even have the vacuum pump on the rear too. I don't seem to recall that they were cheap...but certainly available on this side of the pond. Pics look almost stock, but the pump was a little larger. I haven't compared to see if they are a direct swap over, but could probably be made to work with custom bracketry.

Howdy Rutbeer:

the Hitachi from the NPR box trucks can be had cheap - I would expect a rebuild if I purchased one though - wonder what a vacuum pump rebuild on one would be

belt size and dimensions of case ( body ) would be my concern - I spoke with a cool guy at Nations electrical out of Mo. today - he gave me some parts no.s no one else seemed to have on my original Denso - compatable parts no. from a comperable Nikko ( sp? ) - belt width is the deal here - but again if all else would fit - a pulley/fan could be drilled out to fit shaft

i think for my 2LT pickup I will look into trying to retro a 2nd generation 2L-TE dynamo ( 70 amp stock ) and for my 3B Landcruisers I will investigate the Hitachi 3.9 Td dynamo- vacuum pump on the rear ( 80 amp )

enjoy weeks end

cheers

Enjoy weeks end
