I have searched around a bit, but cannot find an exact answer. My the rear shell of my transfer case on my HZJ75 is cracked, and I have the option to either replace the back shell or replace the transfer case completely.

What transfer cases off US spec trucks will bolt up directly to the H55F? I can get a split case off of an FJ62 auto tranny here locally. Will that split case work?

Worst case, I can still get the case and just pull the rear shell and re-build the case while I'm at it:grinpimp:

You need the newer split case with bigger 38mm idler. If you're looking for a direct replacement you need one from a 86 or 87 fj60. They use the same bearing/output shaft as the h55. The one from a 62 will work but you will have to change the 4wd drive acuator to manual...but thats easy if you already have the case torn down. If you can pick it up local for at decent price thats the route I would go.

As far as the 4WD actuator, you are talking about the ones that had the vacuum actuator versus the manual shaft, right?

Yup thats the one. You have to change them oout b/c they are different. You will also have to drill and tap a hole for the detent ball.

There is a good thread somewhere that details this. Try searching orange45...I think he put of a few threads about this.

yeah what hulsty said. I miss read your first post and thought you needed the half that bolts to the tranny. The only difference will be the hi/ low shift linkage. You can just swap the one from you rig over.
