Did I under engineer this? Do you think it will hold up with a SOA or should I fabricate something stouter? Advice? jeers? ;p

I understand the logic-but it looks light to me. The same bracket in 1/4 minimum or better 3/8 would do it.
 
My '40 is up at Poser's right now but IIRC the welded tab on mine is about 1/4" plate. "Thin gets it in, but thick does the trick";)

If you have room, make a mirror twin of the same bracket and use another knuckle stud. In that case, two mounts of the same(current) thickness might work just fine.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Maybe just a little thin... I'm thinking also that it should probably go under at least two of the u-bolts. I've got a piece of 2x2x1/4 that I can fab up that will give me more confidence. Thanks for all the input!!! :D
