Well, I couldnt help but pass this one up, even though I was saving the money for some upgrades on my other pig... I bought it off of craigs list today in Portland for $1100!!!!!!!!!! (took some working to make happen).... Amazing what cash can do when flashed in someones face..

Completely rebuilt chevy inline 6 (4.9 liter???), with rebuilt turbo 400 tranny (15 miles on both)... Best part is, NO RUST!!!!!

I need to figure out the power brake situation as it has no power brake booster, but other than that, she seems fairly tight and solid... Just thought I'd share... :D :D :D

Yeah, until you smash one and realize that they are near impossible to find. I was lucky to have Mr. Evan Jenkins find me a pair of australian ones when I busted one of mine.

4.9? Is that the GMC 270 6 cyl? In the 50's the GMC trucks had a very different engine from the Chevy counter parts. Not like today :)

The GMC engine has the valve cover that has the bolts on the top (like a 2F) instead of on the sides (like a SBC). Huge engine. I don't know why someone would swap a 6 for a 6, but at least you are most of the way there if youever want a SBC.

Looks great! Congrats!

Well, I must be loving it then, because I got a bag full of lenses for the blinkers as part of the deal... The originals are a bit oxidized and cracked, but I have a few more sets I got with the rig that are in decent shape... Not sure where he got them though..... Must have been from a previous owner, as I doubt the guy I bought this from gathered these up...
