My wife and I traded in a pickup & a Volkswagen Rabbit for our first FJ. A 1981 in Freeborn Red. We asked Chis to make this one a red one also. For examples of Chris Wade's work, google Chris Wade FJ40, this is the Red 1982 Sacramento, CA.

We drove that FJ to Kodiak, Alaska where we wound up for 10 of my 20 years in the US Coast Guard... Had that FJ till 98 when I had to let it go. Took the truck to FL and the heat opened every seal on it.. I would fill it up w/ gas, then crawl under it & fill up the rear differential with gear oil. Cannot say enough about the quality of work that Chris Wade did on this one.. It exceeds all of my expectation!!!

Nice FJ40! Gonna have to guess it was your red FJ40 my son spotted a few weeks ago headed down 575. Ever need any help, feel free to reach out. I'm in the area.

Went back to check the photos, the red 40 my son saw was an early version and had rear flares.

I cannot be more humbled by the kind comments posted. The Red 1982 was quite a project but could not be happier the way it came out. Robert and his wife were fantastic to work with!! Not only did I sell a Land Cruiser to them I made great friends! They will be true assets to the Land Cruiser community.

If anyone would like to see before, during, and after of this restoration see the following site:

More of a who... Chris (James) Wade restores FJ 40’s. I do not have the talent or tools to do a proper job of a full restoration so I cheated & bought one. See Chis’ post two above for a link.

Beautiful Restoration!! I drove this cruiser and almost bought it from the past owner. It was great price but the repairs to the quarters it had previously were pretty nasty. Glad it was fixed properly and went to a great home.

Please post up pictures of your belt routing with this Vintage AC install. I'm in the middle of my install and can't figure out how to get my Saginaw, Alt, and AC all belted.

@John Smith This vehicle does not have Saginaw power steering. However post #9 has a link to detailed pictures. You should be able to see belt routing by double clicking on a picture to make it larger.

It has a saginaw pump, not toyota. Pretty sure that is what he is asking about.
