it looks like it's mainly making contact on the flange past the two cats, but i also see paint rubbed off on the area right below the two cats

what are my options here? anyone else deal with this issue? place another exhaust hanger to try to keep it up?

grind off the parts of the exhaust that are making contact?

forgot to mention, it mainly rattles when starting up... also under a lot of acceleration...

not sure how to tell if motor mounts are bad...

also, is there a secret to removing the black plastic booties on the backs of the rear doors?

hmm, not a bad idea, i actually have some of this left over from wrapping my EGR i think.... lemme look into that...

PS got my package, thank you very much!

Maybe your engine and trans mounts are sagging causing the exhaust to sit lower.

The rubber exhaust hanger isolators also have a tendency to fail.

Pix may help. Not too many of us have THAT brand of slider?

My cats rest on the guards of my sliders (Metal Tech) and used to make a horrible racket. I took some sheets of generic exhaust manifold gasket material and shoved it between the cats and the armor. That worked. I have to replace it once in a while but whatever.

I have those same OPOR sliders and my cats sit close to an inch off the slider wing under the cats. I think you must have a weak point in your exhaust causing the cats to hang low. If you've ruled that out it's possible the sliders were made wrong. OPOR had to send me a new slider for one side because the outrigger on one side was rubbing the body pinch weld. Good luck.

Mine actually sit on the cat. Ill check out my mounts and spacers. Any pics of how close your sliders are to your cat?

@aae42 there is a 12mm (?) bolt at the bottom of the door that keeps the black plastic bootie on the door.

it seems like the front cat is fine, it's just the rear cat/flange

Do Your Cats Hang Low?
Do They Wobble to and Fro?
Can You Tie Them in a Knot?
Can You Tie Them in a Bow?

Could always do a quick cut'n'turn no?
that wouldn't solve the issue with the flange...

also my whole exhaust is so corroded, i'd wonder how well that would work...

Missed that part.

If the whole exhaust is that corroded why not find a silly short term solution and then have one installed to accommodate the sliders. I know, I know, its just money.

I bet the rubber hangers right near the cats has failed and why your exhaust sits lower. You can shove something in there to make the cats sit higher or replace the rubber hanger.

found the culprit... not sure what it is that's missing here, but it looks like it attaches to those rubber bits up there...

anyone know the part i need? or would it be better to just go get a universal

EDIT:

yeeaaaa... it looks like that piece is part of the muffler part... i guess it's a universal for me...

Might be easier/cheaper to have an exhaust shop build you something since whatever was supposed to be there rusted away.

I have the same issue with my White Knuckle sliders. All new exhaust hangers didn't help. The edge of the cat shielding has 1/64" clearance and the torque applied when starting off the line gives just enough twist to for the cat to kiss the cat armor. I tried bending it up a smidge but didn't help. Wedging something under there like the asbestos gasket may help. Trimming the corner of the cat shielding flange would be best but I'm not taking those sliders off again.
