So today was phh day and it was not as bad as I thought I used a hack saw blade and cut the lower bracket, then broke the clamps going to the block and had it out in 45ish minutes. I pulled the starter and took the trans dip stick loose also. Slide it back in and have to wait for parts. I destroyed my upper hose going to the heater valve so I ordered some parts and will replace all hose with new heater valve. Also installed new thermostat and or ring. Will be replacing water pump and doing a full coolant flush along with new belts also.

Do NOT powder coat.

Ceramic paint works well. Have used in on a sandblasted exhaust manifold and it looks beautiful 6 year later. 1000°F ceramic paint from O'Reilly.

Thanks I got them and the exhaust manifolds of and they are getting ceramic coated should help with engine bay temps. And look awesome I’ll post some pics when I get them back.

Once I get the valve cover pulled to put a new seal on I will get it coated also.

Looks like you’re getting a lot of good work done. I’d say you’d be hard pressed to get better pricing/value on OEM parts than at Wits End. You could try your local dealer but unless there is a local club that’s worked out a deal on pricing you’ll probably find they’ll want full msrp or worse.

Yah it’s one of those things “while your in there!!” Is adding up. But you can’t beat a piece of mind knowing you have replaced before it brakes And I really enjoy working on it and have been replacing hardware as I go also. I have bought lots from Witts end and his prices are very fair. Usually beats dealer prices by me and they give me a 20% veteran discount.

So things got out of hand today I pulled the valve cover and throttle body. I guess I just can’t stop getting into this rig.

Got the valve cover all cleaned up and heading to powder coat tomorrow, cleaned up throttle body and as a bonus the wife gave me the day so installed new fuel filter. My old one was labeled China? Weird. But I guess seeing the after market valve cover gasket I should not be surprised. The rear bolt was missing on the fuel filter not sure I will be in a hurry to buy that and put it in. Looks a little tight.

Dropped of the manifolds and heat shields at the ceramic coat shop by me they give a good veteran discount and I like the idea of a cooler manifold in the engine bay.

So got the manifolds back and they look sick. Hopefully they help keep engine bay temps down. Also got the the front main seal replaced and oil pump cover gasket replaced along with new screws. New water pump and just waiting to torque that dam bolt down gotta rent a tool, was trying to borrow from other members but timing just might not work out. Also doing fan clutch and waiting on that in the mail. I also need valve cover back should be tomorrow? But I should be mostly leak free except for either rear main or arch seal. Gotta inspect that area still. Also got a new koyorad radiator to help with the not blown head gasket yet!!.

Are you replacing the Tstat, old ones can get sluggish, bad aftermarket are worse, now's the time to replace it, OEM only. Ditto for the radiator cap.
Looking good.

Looks like it might be for the oil level sensor on the side of the block.
