Here are a couple of shots of the wheels I bought from Dallen and what they look like after getting powdercoated...I'm quite happy with the work. The meats are 33X9.5X15 BFG AT/KO.

If anyone wants my old steelies I have them for sale...just PM me. I can even have them PC'd for you..of course that would work into the price.

Here's Sammy now w/ new shoes...

I like the overall "new" look/stance of Sammy....I really need to install my OME Dakars to get rid of the sag and complete the stance...Then I need to find out what my options are for painting...I'm toying with the idea of either going original dune beige or maybe with one of the new FJ Cruiser colors like Voodoo Blue....any opinions?

Please post up the information on where you had them blasted, and powder coated and the costs!

Looks nice man!

I had them blasted and powdercoated by Les Schwab...a tire company here in the NW... They used to primarily only powdercoat commercial truck wheels...but will now throw your wheels on their weekly freight trucks and have them back to you w/in 1 wk.

Now here's the kicker....blasting and powdercoating....for basic colors like white, black, grey = $25/ wheel.

That's less than 1/2 the price I was quoted after calling locally to about 10 shops.

Yep, I was told by a powdercoating shop that it would be cheaper to just buy new rims. I'm calling our Les Schwab's right now.....

WOW!!! I was quoted $22.50/wheel for black and $27.50 for any other color on their color chart. The also told me about a week turn around time. That's not bad at all!!!!! Thanks for the info!

Damn...I should have worked out some referral scheme w/ Les Schwab...hhahaha

Nah...it's nice to contribute to the hive once and awhile...since I'll be picking the hive mind as I fix up Sammy.

Speaking as a guy who had 5 wheels sandblasted and then I painted with two coats of self-etching primer and three finish coats of catalized acrylic enamel..........................that's a deal. And it is powdercoat.

:frown: Ed

Bu:D t they do look good, IMHO

it looked sweet befor i think hub caps are the shi*

very nice, i would have never of guessed les shwabbs for powdercoat thans for the heads up

Draken,

I just took the same rims and put a set of 32x9.50 Super Swampers on them. I don't think I can post a picture on here yet but I really like the way those rims look and those skinny swampers are bad a** off road which is where it will be mostly.

:)

The Les Schwab info isn't news. I think it was Landpimp who posted about it quite a while ago. They have a range of colors but unfortunately the only gray they have is a near white Ford color. You can tell that it's gray if you look at it a while. I had five done for a total of $126.50 in their gray almost a year ago. Good job and so far no chips but the light colors make the little powdercoat bridges between the wheel center and the rim show up - not too objectionable unless you're too anal about it.

I think they truck them out to their big place in Wilsonville (?), Oregon.
