Hi there.

I've recently bought a 1992 Surf with a dead 2LTE engine. The rest of the vehicle is in outstanding shape, so I took the chance on it.
I owned and daily drove a 90 series landcruiser for 17 years up until November, so this is a change, but it's a toy, rather than a necessity.

I've pulled the engine, and its going for a professional rebuild, pistons, bearings, new head, the lot. I'm doing the reassembly of ancillaries and the reinstall into the vehicle itself.

It came to me partly disassembled by the seller, as they were chasing whatever issue led to the timing going out of whack and a valve being obliterated.

I have almost everything identified and labelled except this. Does anyone here know what specifically it is and where it belongs. ChatGPT suggested a magnetic timing component but I cannot see anything that matches.

Thanks

To me, this looks like the top washer that fits over your glow plug resistor.

The ND I believe stands for NipponDenso and the part number looks like a denso one.

Well, after a lengthy wait for parts, and a few late evenings in the shed, the engine is back in..

It's had 4 new pistons, rings and liners, bearings and core plugs, a new head, new aluminium rad, and a few bits and bobs.

It's now running and I drove the thing for the first time this afternoon. Steering, brakes, suspension, gearbox all absolutely spot on.. Still has some air in the cooling system which is a bugger to get out, so it got a little steamy once or twice.. should get it sorted over the next week.

Nothing about old trucks is straightforward!
