I just installed Old Man Emu lift - shocks, springs, & torsion bars on my '04 Land Crusier last week. The shop that did it has truck level. Before lifting truck was a little lower in the front than rear. While lift looks great, it looks a little funny 100% level.

Has anyone done similar? Did you set TLC level or slightly lower in front more like factory? With OME torsion bars & shocks does it ride better one way or the other?

BTW -- Put new set of BFG's 275/70R18 on and total package looks pretty strong.

Yeah it looks really strong with those running boards :flipoff2:

Lower the front, you probably have an inch of down travel, you definitely want more than that.

Nice, I like the level appearance.

@ LoudLX -- What is down travel? And why do I want it? Like my setting says, I'm a rookie. I need 3rd grade level on the terms and recommendations.

thanks!

I just installed my lift also. I have a slight lean to the left now. Wondering if anyone else has the same thing after install of the OME lift?

no down travel means when the wheel lifts off the ground it will only travel an inch down to contact the ground. not good.

You can add trim packers to help get rid of lean. They make trim packs in 10mm, 15mm, 25mm and 30mm - just about any size you can think of.

I think most people keep some forward rake in their suspension. Measure from the bottom of your wheel (not tire) to the fender. Not sure what factory spec is but mine are 1" lower in the front when I have my normal load in back, a little more when empty. The truck is still very stable at speeds that Fuzz would toss me in county for. There are lots of threads about adjusting torsion bars and it's very easy to do yourself. Make sure you get an alignment afterwards.

Oh and loose the running boards. :flipoff2:

add a super duty heavy ars winch to the front, problem solved :D

I like that latest suggestion, however until I can do that need to bring back to shop tomorrow because allignment they did Saturday pulls to the left. Will have them lower front end 1" below back end before they fine tune allignment.

Love the suggestions on the running boards, but wife is barely 5' tall and we have two little ones. Running boards here to stay.

Actually this ^ is dead on. Your current setup looks awesome - even with running boards. We're so used to every car, truck and SUV having a bit of rake, that when we see one level, it looks odd - like it's nose up. If you put a winch, e.g. 9000lb, in that ARB, the truck will drop just a spec in the front and look even better for two reasons - 1. It'll have just a bit of rake and 2. 'cause there'll be a winch in that ARB ;)

According to Christo @ slee, you're supposed to have at least 2" of "droop" or downtravel with those torsion bars. Any less than that and you're asking for trouble.

If you like the level look then go by this measurement. It's the max measurement that's been proven on many 100's for tons of miles. Just make sure they adjust the T-bars so the distance between the fender top/well and the center of the wheel cap is NO more than 22 3/8" which is about 2.75" above stock. Get an alignment...you're good.

This fixes the 'look', but I don't think this addresses the required droop or down travel since extra weigh just compresses the susp. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.

It doesn't matter how the truck is equipped. The Tbars are set for a given height with the gear on...again, regardless of the weight, winches, etc. If you set the bars and THEN change weight, accessories, etc...then travel (up and down) can be effected so you need to re-tune.

Thanks to all for advice. Took LC in and had front adjusted for 2" of droop which ened up being near an inch and a half lower than it was. It looks right now drives better too. I think some of you like the 'level' look. Maybe I'm brainwashed, but I don't like it. Little rake is all good. I think TLC likes the rake. Per picture, it's not like it's riding low now and still plenty of room for those 33's.
Thanks again for assistance and advice.
