Headed down to my local 4wheelparts today to take a look at some shocks. I considered Pro Comps es9000s, Bilsteins 5150s and 5160s, OME Nitrocharger, and Fox 2.0s. Currently I am running 2.5" HD OME coils with stock shocks. I told them that I was planning to add 30mm coil spacers all the way around. In the end, I got the 12" travel Fox 2.0 emulsion shocks for $491. Ill keep you guys updated when they get in!

Did you get pin mounts or are you modifying the mounts to accept eye bushings? I have a set of 10" and 12" eye/eye fox 2.0's but I havent had time to install them because I need to modify the mounts on the truck.

From what it seemed like, he was able to get stud/eye shocks

12" fox come in what ever you like. eye-eye, pin-eye, pin-pin. 14" and 16" only come in eye-eye. I had to modify mine to fit the longer shocks. Currently tuning and testing valving.

What springs +/- spacers are you using with a 12" shock?

5" flexi coils, with tuned suspension. Meaning shocks where the last thing I did after bumpstops. Peeerfect. 12" was a direct bolt in fit for the rear, no modifications. Enough travel for me.

Should hold true for the 4" flexi's, as well?

Hate to break the bad news, but 12" travel shocks are going to be too long at compressed length. Especially on the rear. With only a 2.5" lift and spacers.

hmm I had the guy at 4wheelparts measure my suspension. If thats the case, what length do you recommend??

I only have access to my phone right now so it's hard to do the leg work for the measuremts and adapters.

The main problem with off the shelf Fox shocks is when you try to use them with our applications. The body of the shocks are pretty long. So even though the extended length looks correct you need to also look into the compressed length which is pretty long on these compared to OME shocks ect. The OME L shocks are IIRC 11" travel shocks however the compressed length is alot less then a 10" travel fox 2.0.

You can also cross reference Fox Shox 2.0 for Jeep TJs.

Here's is the specs of the shocks they most likely ordered for you.

12.0"Travel. 31.10" Extended 19.10" Collapsed Plus shock adapters add to extended and comp length.

I'm not trying to s***t on your new purchase. Just been down this route and have the 10" travel on a J lift. They are great shocks for the price. However the measurements of these shocks are not optimal without heavy fabbing of new shock mounts.

Yes those specs look correct. Oh no, please give me any advice you have, I am a noob when it comes to shocks. Besides I would f****** hate it to have them mounted and later realized they are too long. Thanks!

Na, All depends on tyre size, spring lift and rates. But they certainly aren't too long. Mine compresses to within half an inch of compression and the full extension. Its MOSTLY to do with tyre size and bumpstops adjustments. The only difference with smaller lift suspension is your coil with no remain captured and fall free.

I'll post pics tonight or just refer to the flipped arms thread.

Ok sweet, thanks. Im running 285s KM2s

So could I run the 12" now until i upgrade to 35s. Ill just make sure not to flex super hard??

Sounds like a great set up. 12" travel Foxes on a 5" lift.

12" - 35's
10" - 33's
8" - 31's
For the rear.

Sweet chart for shocks. This should be added to the FAQ or become a sticky. What about the guys running 38" tires... Should it be a 14" or 16" shock?

Ahh, now I can read propperly (not on iphone). Your getting emulsion shocks. Thats different again as you have to make room for the volume the stem takes up. I was qouting remote res 2.0's.

Heres a pic of what can be acheived with tuned rear suspension. running 12" fox remote res (straight fit).

Why do you keep spreading mis information in a majority of the threads you post in?

2.0's, emulsions, they are all the same specs.

Dont know about majority champ. But you are correct on this 1. I just checked and they are the same spec. It was different shock brand I was thinking of. Im all about correct info, so I appollogise for the mislead.

To add to your earlier response about them being too long. You never go off the static length. Springs, then tyres, adjust bumpstops until they arent rubbing, then cross it up and measure the compresed length. Minus a bit for full compression clearance, and what ever length you end up with for drop is it.
