New Club Logo Vote

Alright, we started this little project, with a lot of help from Spike, several weeks ago in another thread. Then spike came to our meeting in February and we all discussed different ideas.

Now, we're going to vote on a final design for the new club logo. Remember, you don't have to love every detail about these designs; just choose the design idea that you like the best. Once we have selected one of these three designs, we can hammer out the details within that idea, exact colors, location of text, etc.

This thread will be a poll. Your poll vote will be counted as your vote as a club member, so please only vote if you are actually a member of the CLCC. Because some folks don't get on MUD, I'll also be sending this out to the email list to solicit votes. That means that the final poll results here my not give the actual winner. I'll keep you all updated on the votes I get by email.

For future reference, if you have paid your dues for this year, you may certainly vote. But also, if you were a paid member in one of the last two years (and you fully intend to get us that money), you can vote, too. We talked about this at the meeting; I'm not just pulling it out of my -ss.

Wow, Spike kicks ass. Those are all pretty awesome but I'll go with B. I'll slap one on my truck as soon as I see it again.

I've tried to stay out of this but I can't resist any longer...

You forgot another option - the old logo.

Not against a new logo, but don't think any of these are better than the old one.

Waaay too disco and busy. Plus the whole thing is too much of a cartoon, the lines are not true to the form a FJ40. Too stylized. Yuk. Amature graphic design at best.

Simple is better when it comes to branding and logos. Talk to any brand manager or trained designer and they'll tell you just that.

These would look OK (not my taste) on a T shirt but not on a sticker or a small little postage stamp that you get on the TLCA links page for example.

I hate to be the basher but just speaking my mind. However, there is no need to change something just for the hell of it. You guys are the active members, do as you must.

John: I believe the purpose of the poll is to determine a consensus on a new style of logo. Once the style was chosen, we would then refine it to our liking (whatever that may be). I think they appear "cartoonish" because they were designed as templates, not the final logo.

EDIT: I do like the old logo - a red FJ40!

Consensus and graphic design don't mix well - ask any GOOD, TRAINED graphics designer that. A horse designed by committeeis a camel...

Alright, it looks like Logo B design is the winner. After counting the emailed votes, the final score was

A - 7
B - 9
C - 2

So, now the next step is for me to start another thread where we tweak the B design. But I'll save that for next week. It's Friday, and I don't feel like doin' stuff.
