I'm replacing my brake master cylinder this weekend( '84 FJ60 ), and need to know the proper bleed sequence. Also any tips/tricks on doing this solo, as I have yet to procure help, will be outstanding. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

do you have the FSM? If not download it.

Otherwise my advice is simple-ask someone for help. you need help for just 10 minutes or so, and the person just has to pump the pedal.

Here's what you do:

put new master on.
fill reservoir.
put large ziplock over the master.
put your finger on the hole from outside the ziplock, and keep fingers lightly pressed on it to prevent air from going back in there.

have someone pump the pedal, till no more air comes out of either hole, just clean brake fluid.

take ziplock off, attach brake lines.
bleed rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver.

if you have a LPSV with a bleeder, bleed that then.

if you have a distributing valve (right under master), bleed that last.

to bleed: close bleeder valve,
have someone pump the pedal 3 times and then keep it depressed,
open valve and let air/fluid out,
close valve
repeat till no more bubbles come out.

cheers,
J

I think you are supposed to bleed the LSPV after all four wheels? If not then I have been doing it wrong the whole time :bang:.

if you can post a question here you could have just as easy googled it and got 110,000 hits, 15,000 of which were You Tube videos of someone doing exactly what you asked.
