The next batch of belly skid plates is ready to ship, entire batch spoken for, private message going to those on the list. I have a couple guys on the waiting list/interested, need slightly more interest before starting another batch.

I got mine on Thursday and put it on this weekend. It is very stout looking!
Because of the many different years this can be used on, Jim doesn't pre-drill any mounting holes.
I thought I'd share my method of marking my hole locations.

My 1963 FJ40 may have never had a skid plate. IDK if it was standard back then.
There were mount holes in the frame though they were well plugged with 50 years of trail dirt.

An old bore brush and I was in business.

So how to mark the 6 M8 holes accurately? I came up with this plan:
M8 x 30mm cone point set screws with some locknuts I had lying around.

Installed thusly:

The floor jack held the skid plate in position:

Which made it easy to transfer the hole locations to the plate:

Here is how the marks turned out:

Here is my advanced set-up to drill the holes:

To allow some wiggle room for the M8 bolts I went with 9mm holes:

I'm out of room in this post for the final few photos.

Looks great! Anyway you could please get me a depth measurement on the pan?

In this picture you may notice I put spacers between the skid plate and frame.
This is because the frame's rivets will keep the plate from sitting flush.
The other way to deal with this is to drill relief holes in the plate under the rivets.
I had some perfect 8mm size spacers 4mm thick so I used them. Washers would work, too.

All done except for some paint someday...

A brief note: there is about +/- 3" from a centered placement as to where to locate the mounting holes.
I located the holes on the skid plate so that it will protect the driveline brake pretty well. Happy trails! :)
