Nice work. Mine was slightly rougher and it took five months of prep work to get it ready to paint, looks you are moving much faster.

Sanded down the inside of tub and frame. Lots of wiring wheeling and then Por 15 on the frame. Then finished the frame off with topcoat. After that was more prep so that I could Monstaliner underneath and inside the tub. I know most people hate this but this will be driven by myself and my kids. I would have preferred matching color Line x because of the quality but they can not get the color line x yet due to the shortage. Monstaliner is really good and made to stop rust unlike some of the other that trap it. It wasn’t horrible to spray but make sure you have a good respirator.

We’ll time to catch up on this post. I coach my son football team 5 days a week so I haven’t had time to get on here in a while. Before Solid Axle Summit I was able to get all the body work done on the tub and primer it. Lots of block sanding went in to it. Then took a week off and sprayed it single stage paint. Luckily I had left over paint from my 1976 fj40. They both came the same color from the factory and that’s how they will remain. I didn’t check to see if the 1976 freeborn red was a little different shade from the 1965 red but I went with it. It was free and that matter most to me since my kids will be driving this truck to school when they get older. They know how to take care of things so I am not that worried to have them learn how to drive in a 65 fj40.

Time for an update. Life is getting crazy with 3 little ones. We finished football season and went straight in to wrestling season. I was able to get all my powder coating interior parts back and put most of the interior back together. I got all new seat covers from cruiser corps and put them on new foam from Spector. I installed the seat covers myself and it’s not that bad. Definitely a little different then the later bucket seats but still not a horrible job. Here is some before and after of the interior.

It been a slow process but still going in the right direction. My youngest boy got to have his Birthday party at Valley Hybrids. He loves his landcruiser. This 40 will be his and his brothers when they start driving. Slow and his friends won’t try to borrow it with the three in the tree.
