Ran across an ad for a '67 FJ45lwb so I went to check it out. Has a 2f installed in it. A swapped windshied cause the owner of 25 years didn't like the vacuum wipers. Bed is rusted out and new metal plates were welded in. Frame looks questionable. Hard to determine extent of rust because it's undercoated with "bear grease" and was oil undercoated every year. I would love to have it but not sure if I would be biting off more than I could chew. Opinions please.

It looks pretty good. Probably very good for the PA area.

I guess the questions are, how much can you chew and how much is it?

Did you take a hammer to the frame the check how solid it is?

Do you have more pics?

From what I can see the bed sides are in better than average shape unless that smear in front of the wheel on the PS side and behind the wheel on the DS side are all bondo. I have no doubt that the checker plate covers rotted rockers.

And of course you will need to deal with the webber carb.

does it have front disc? cut rib on firewall, with booster and dual circuit.
wouldn't have been vacumn wipers on a 45. it would have had dual motors, 1 speed.
price will be the factor. if he wants $2000 buy it. if he wants $20000 walk away.

It has front disk brakes. He stated the original wipers were vacuum so he swapped a newer windshield with the motor located below. Frame appears solid but there are some noticeable patches welded onto the frame in some spots. He really used this truck around the farm for haulling and such. The edges of the rear tires were gouged from the fenders hitting the tires under heavy loads. Can't imagine what he had in the back of that bed. He said he once pulled a truck loaded with firewood out of a ditch in front of the house. His initial asking price was $5K.

not a bad price...

How bad does it look behind the diamond plating?

Its tough to tell how it looks from a few photo's rust wise but thats the biggest problem with these old trucks. I would get a fridge magnet and go over all the body work looking for rust as the weak magnet will fall off a bogged area. The chassis should get a good look over to determine its condition with maybe a screw driver to push into suspect areas.

Not yet. Still mulling it over. may go back and take another look with all the knowledge you guys have passed on. Who knows it may already be gone. Guy is tuff to get a hold of. Thanks a ton for all the input.

Don't kick yourself if you don't buy it there's always others and it seems to me your not certain you want it anyways and that truck requires work .
