Would anyone from Australia be willing to help me buy and ship a h55f from AU to the US?

I'm looking to replace the auto on my FJ62 with the 5 speed manual. I do not have the $ to buy a new one here in the US. And quickly found that there are no good, used h55f's available here.

Looking to spend 1k or less for a used, well-functioning H55f.

If anyone thinks this may be feasible or is willing to help, please speak up or PM me.

Has anyone had experience shipping something like this to the states? Any idea of cost?

Thanks. Sorry, if this is the wrong section to post in, but I thought it get the most attention here.

The problems are finding one you can test drive. Looking inside wont tell you much and most of them are 20 years old+.
Then it will cost at least $300 to pack and ship.
For another $800 you could probably have the new one.

The good side is that they are easy to find unlike the 1HZ H55f

Rosco,

If you learned to connect used parts sources, shipping methods and intermodal operations theres an opportunity to sell diesel motors and drive train bits to cruiser owners stateside.

Imagine, a second job...... ;)

Cheers,

Rick

Im already fairly well set up for that. Its not as easy as you think.

They are definitely around... I just sold one with a split case for a 1000.00 Have you looked in Canada? They were pretty common in Hj60's and a heck of a lot closer than AUS.

I'm a cruiserhead and I like to help my mates on MUD (sh#t - even those in the states! :D) - but I'd never want to get into that business personally.

I will never forget helping my sister buy her first car. (A job I undertoook since I thought I knew a bit about motor vehicles. - Certainly a lot more than she did/does.) So I tried to find her a good one and it turned out to be a lemon. Man did I feel stink! (And still do!)

I have a new one with 1000 miles on it, rebuilt transfer by Slee offroad. It was purchased new from Toyota and then driven for 1000 miles before the owner's wife rolled the rig into a snowbank.

I have the driveshafts from a 1985FJ60 also in case you need different driveline to make it fit. it has the correct inputshaft for the F series engine.

Running around sourcing individual parts takes a lot longer than what you think, especially if the 1st couple you see are no good.
The only way to get cheap freight is to go big

Hehe. I learned its best not to give advice on purchasing second hand cars also Tom. Last time I did that I became the person responsible for everything that went wrong with it from the time of purchase, even a flat tyre! Stuff that.
