Thinking of doing some fishing. I'm an advid fisherman, dad had a fishing rod in my hand at 2. Would anyone be interested? Let me know.

I thought you wanted to wheel this weekend!~:D
Which is it wheel or fish.
I guess if your lucky you could do both but fishing the lower mainland is really not that great...
I think I am more game to wheel this sunday unless maybe a lake in Squamish tickled your fancy.
do you fly fish?

squamish river

actually the river fishing has been pretty good. we could do a bit of wheeling and fish the mid/upper section of Squampton River...
thoughts:meh:

lol whats better then wheeling and fishing and beer in the same day!!! We had fun last year up at sunrise. Wheeled up. spend the day fishing and beer. ( caught a 18" and 22" rainbow!) fun day. It would be wheeling for sun. Put the fishing out there to see if anyone would be into going sometime. Would like to meet some more fishermen to go with.

have never done it...

Fly fishing is something I was planing on trying this year. Looks like fun!. most of the time I'm trolling. Or river fishing.

I like river fishing but hate the gong show that develops in some places. Had some nice Pink fly fishing on the Vedder with the kids tossing wool last fall. Once it became the gong show, we just gave up fishing for Pinks. Pretty much any decent run was a gong show. If you have a Fraser river capable boat, then you can get away from the idiots. All i have is a 12' cartopper.

I've seen more than a few nuts on the Fraser in 12' cartoppers with outboards, often natives. They don't get anywhere fast going up river that's for sure.

I used to trout fish a bit. Didn't have much luck locally so haven't bought a licence in a few years. Maybe this year I might.

Some nice rainbows there.
Yeah I might just have to get a licence and bring gear in case we find ourselves camped at Mud Lake next weekend. That's the first place I ever caught a fish as a kid. Great memories :)

I've been meaning to get back into fishing. Not that I ever was serious about it, but I had a lot of fun years ago with a 12' tin boat.
I have never tried fly fishing, it seems to be what all the cool guys are doing :)

The kids, my oldest daughter (6) in particular, seems like she might be interested in trying it out. I'm not sure what will happen when it comes to bonking them on the head and gutting/cleaning tho.

The fish that is, not the kids (well maybe the bonking them on the head anyways....)

bonking them on the head? people still do that? My dad taught me to put one finger in the mouth, one behind the head and pull back. bonking them they will still flop around . Do it my way and it severs the spine= no flop!

From the pic of you and your dad, it looks like your dad was the better fisherman.:D:D

I may go to the Island with the fly rod today but if I don't I'll be heading out locally all weekend. My dad is in town and we caught a dozen yesterday between three spots. The Harrison river was productive with spinners but the fly rod was a flop there. The other two spots are known to me by there GPS coordinates only and the fly rod was the answer. Jones lake is VERY low right now and the cutties have no place to hide. Silver Hope lake is rocking but its catch and release only. The Vedder is fly only right now and the chehalis river is closed for the next month. They just released 100,000 steel head smolts which are a nuance as they are hitting everything and are release only. Every second cast I was throwing one of those little mongers back. Lake of the woods by Hope is good chronomid fishing right now.

Fly fishing is great.

Even a small fish puts up a decent fight!
I like to snap the necks also over bonking but trout over 5Lbs have strong necks and some serious teeth...
get your licenses guys! its inexpensive fun for the family if your a BC resident...

Happy fishing

nice!...

nice fish dude! I hear ya about the strong necks and teeth

I enjoy fishing as well, but I'm more of a catch and release guy. If the circumstances are right I'll keep a fish or two, just as long as they hit the frying pan within the hour. Kokanee are my personal favorites

kokanee are good

Nice color meat. I find them hard to land, they have soft mouths for sure.
Your right to only eat the fresh ones.
I dont ever keep any fish over 21" or 22" long cause they deserve to go back and the 14" fish are the best tasting espcecially pan friend with butter, beer and a little mrs dash.. hmmmmm
