How do you recommend I clean the gasket surface of my block when it's still installed? Should I just be careful with a scraper not to get any debris into the oil/coolant holes or should I plug them w/ paper towl/shop rag? Is it okay to use a wire wheel or gasket removal disc on my die grinder?
Any/all suggestions welcome!
TIA,

A shop Vac is a plus here. Run it along with your scaper so it sucks up everything that comes loose. Personally I'de be weary of the wire wheel. It will shed wires.

i plug orifices and use a roloc disc

I second this. Very fast and cleans well. The shop vac out the debris.

I use a soft wire wheel on just about every steel gasket surface I come across.

Fawking with scrapers etc is not for me.
