Does anybody know where I can buy a working AM/FM radio for a '73 FJ40?

I've heard that radios from mini-trucks fit, imagine an ancient Corona or Corolla would fit. (Buy a '74 corona beater, not running for a hundred bucks. Take out the radio and sell the rest for a hundred bucks.)
a DIN mount pioneer works.
Your hole is cut out for that to fit like that. There should be some metal showing between the pads.
I'll look for a picture.
I see mine must be enlarged. I drive mine to work daily so enjoy the tunes more than having correct radio.x2 here's a pic of the opening...only one side has the pad...but...you can see how it sticks past the padding
maybe Fast Eddy has a pic of both pads inplace?

Subscribed to this as I would really like to fill the radio hole myself.
With a radio? You can get an AM radio pretty cheap. If you want a plate, you can get those too, but not cheap for what they are. They usually go for about $70. I just sent email to this guy who makes repros for $36:
TOYOTA FJ40 RADIO DELETE PLATE - eBay (item 230597873228 end time Mar-21-11 12:44:27 PDT)
I would not hack up the dash either, sometimes others pave the way for you.I'd love to have my Sony removable-face DIN in the dash, but not nearly enough to cut out the hole bigger.
To be honest - I want the cheapest option to fill the hole
Let me know what this guy says if you wouldn't mind.
