Hey I've done a search and can't find any pics. I need to replace my rear pinion seal and I am confused about the hitting the nut with a chisel to stake it. It's on an 86 fj60, if any one has pics of there replacement could you please post them. Or if you know or a site that has pics and not drawings. Thanks a bunch.

Chuck

get your drive shaft off, then look right at the nut and pinion.
the end of the pinion has notch, when you put your nut back on, you need to "STAKE" the nut.
use a drift or a screwdriver to set the nut.

when you look at it before removing the nut, you'll see what needs to be done.

is the confusing enough? ;)

haha, thanks, so I'm assuming the nut has a notch in it also, or something of the sort.

not the nut, just the pinion.
you can easily smack the edge of the nut into the pinion.
you'll see, just take a good look at it before you take it apart..

cool, thanks
