I know there is lots of threads about exhaust replacement. I need a new exhaust front to back. Trying to find an inexpensive replacement. Thought about EMS but read that it was louder than stock. Seen some others but heard fitment was bad. Any help would be appreciated. ...

I've got an ems and I had to have work done on it to fix leaks. I'm pretty sure they are out of business. It is loud. I have not seen much out there for custom exhaust otherwise, there are oem style replacements, check rockauto.com. Also, if you search out a quality exhaust shop, I bet they can make you a nice one. Good luck

The magnaflow ypipe and 1st cat is a good start then go custom from there back is my opinion. You can do it pretty cheap. I posted pics of the magnaflow that I just put on a couple weeks ago.

I was looking at doing the magnaflow y pipe but I have a 94 so I have 2 O2 sensors. Is there a way i can still use that one? The front (down pipes) is the part I'm having a problem finding parts for. The back part is going to be easy.

EMS is not an option. They no longer exist.

Magnaflow is a good option. Several have posted up threads detailing there experience. Walker also makes a factory bolt-on exhaust from the manifold back. You can get it through Advance Auto, they frequently have decent discount codes. Another option is to look in classifieds for a good condition used OEM exhaust system.

I looked online at advanced and they are not showing one from the manifold. I will have to go into the store tomorrow.

I bought a walker y-pipe from advance 2 years ago, recently while trying to change the o2 sensors, one of the sensor mount studs broke on the 2 year old y-pipe, when I went in to have them order a new one they said they no longer showed the pipe, however when I produced my receipt, they ordered the p/n off the receipt and replaced it.
if I could do it again, I would use the magnaflow stainless y-pipe, I have a borla catback for the rear part of the system,I have had since 2005, had to weld the bracket closest to the cat flange but still going strong otherwise.
personally I would use the magnaflow ss y-pipe and either magnaflow catback or borla catback.....

I found these on their site. All saying they fit the 97LC

Bosal part# 099-243 $269.99
Walker part# 54567 $386.99
MagnaFlow part# 447103 $466.97

Hmmmm

Also lists the MagnaFlow part #23120 as an "exact fit" for the 97LC as well and lists for $349.31

Yeah the problem is I have a 94 and the O2 sensors are side by side. Don't know if it will work.

X2

My 95 80 was a hack job exhaust, and I replaced it with mangflow Y pipe and cats, then mated it up to a Bosal Muffler and Tailpipe.

Quieter than the crap before, but I dont like how the tailpipe looks (over the OEM one), so I may change the muffler and tailpipe again when it bothers me enough.

This is the route I am wanting to take also. Did you have to add a second cat to make it fit?

I just did the Magnaflow front cat Y pipe. It fits perfect.

I'm doing the same.. just got my order in and will be install this weekend. walker oe replacement y-pipes, cats, and went to the toyota stealer-ship to get the new studs to bolt the y-pipes up and gaskets between all the parts as rockauto had no gaskets available, nor did the local auto zone. studs + 3 exhaust gaskets = $135. ouch.. ill let every one know how it goes..

Magnaflow came with all the gaskets and the O2 sensor studs. I was able to reuse the studs/nuts at the manifold end. I soaked them in Kroil every night for a week. They were stubborn to take off but came off pretty easy wit a breaker bar.

I finished replacing the exhaust about 2 months ago. Went with the Rockauto parts, Magnaflow y-pipe cats, gaskets etc. They didn't have the Bosal tailpipe at the time so I got that from Amazon. For some reason Amazon sent me 2 tailpipes eventhough I definitely only paid for one. The installation was a pretty simple bolt on. There were a few snags as always:
1. Tailpipe mounting bracket was welded on backwards as stated in one of the mud exhaust threads. Managed to make it work anyway.
2. Stripped 2 exhaust studs and had to remove manifolds to install new studs. I was PO'ed at first but this didn't end up being very difficult.
3. Didn't replace O2 sensors and got a check engine light on the post-cat sensor right a 100 miles after the job was done. Pre-cat sensor was fairly new. Lost a week's worth of time going to Autozone to return the 'generic' sensor and ordering the correct one online.

Cheers, jt

the walker y-pipe needed to be pulled apart 3in... must have gotten smashed during shipping as the box looked very very rough. otherwise bolted up no problem. took the cats to get cut and turned and re-welded so they are horizontal. quiet and environmental friendly. very pleased with the walker y-pipe and replacement cats.

Hey guys, Magnaflow states that it fits '95-'97. Has anyone tried it on a '94? If so were there any issues with fitment or anything else?

I was very happy with the Magnaflow Y-pipe and second cat that I installed on my 96 last year. My only warning is to not use their gaskets. spring for the Toyota gaskets. The Magnaflow gasket between the first and second cat just blew. I followed someones advice and used the Toyota gaskets on the front and rear but didn't in the center. Now it's time to replace it...
