need mig welding helmet

I recently bought a Hobart Handler 187 and still need to buy a welding helmet. I'd like auto-darkening one in the $100-150.

Any suggestions?

I've got a Miller Elite that I really like. The basic black ones are a little over $200 on ebay. I bought it after I couldn't get used to the small lens area on the cheaper auto darkening hood I bought.

I have an extra Jackson Nexgen EQC that I've used about 2 times and always stored in a helmet bag. When I bought my son a helmet a few months ago I got a two for 1 deal and don't need 3 helmets. It's your's for $150 + 20 for shipping if you want it.

I just bought a miller pro hobby for $116 from cyberweld.com. The first thing I noticed is the helmet itself is a bit flimsy. Other than that it gets the job done and I like it. The auto darkening works fine and I like the adjustability in sensitivity, delay, and darkness.

i bought a lincoln auto darkening helmet at home depot for $90 that works great with my HObart 187. I am not a pro, so a huge field of view was not a sales feature for me.

Northern Tool has this one for not much. I bought this one when I got my welder a few years ago and it has worked perfectly for me so far.

Took a quick look at this helmet and it looks pretty good, especially for the price.

How sturdy is the band and adjustment machanisms that go arond head? Some of the inexpensive helments that I've seen look very flimzy and it seems like they wont last long.

It has been working fine for me. I don't pamper my stuff and it is holding up going on two years. It is very easily replaceable so not to worry. The sweat band is getting pretty grotty. That's about the only thing I have not been happy with. I just need to perspire less. FWIW

Well, local HF had a sale on that helmet and I just picked it up. I'll try it out tonight on my first little project to extend rear sway bar mounts for my LC.

It sucks in low light situations.

Is there a better helmet that is easier to use at night?

Clear lense that auto darkens or something?
