Need help with 70 FJ40 transfer case forward output shaft

I am at a loss.. I found that the previous owner at some point fixed a crack in what I believe is the forward output shaft of the transfer case (see images) however have difficulty in finding solutions. I am here to as for advice..

1, is there another part name that I am not using causing me to not find anything similar online?
2, should I replace or should I find a way to repair (weld)?

Anyone have experience with this that can help?

that's the vacumn switching pod, should be easy enough to find a used one. it is held on by the 4 bolts on the left side of the first pic.

Hi all,

Are you referring to the spot that appears to have JB-Weld on it?

If it doesn't leak, than I would not worry about it.

BTW, that piece is often called the transfer case "nose cone."
