Rice. I appreciate all of your help and suggestions. I will try later today and after an hour or so I will stop and wait until 29th for the crew to help me.

You're welcome.

Sounds like a smart play.

I know it feels bad going backwards but it's worth it to go ahead and pull the bellhousing and pressure plate back off for a good look.

The biggest clue you provided is the 1 inch or so you lack of getting it seated. That's exactly the distance needed for the pilot shaft. That comes down to mucked up bushing (cheap fix) or clutch alignment (zero cost unless it damaged the bushing)

Is the clutch, throw out bearing and pilot bushing all new? If so, did the new pilot bushing go in straight and smooth?

Update on this? In the event the pilot bushing needs replacement you'll want to have a new one on order before the helpers arrive.

Guys - after 6 hours of tryng I GOT it to seat. It is a little hard when it is on a slight hill. So, with that being said I DO NOT need any help on the 29th. I have finished assembling and now I have to get oil, coolant, oil pressure clip and time it and I will be done!!

Thanks for all the support and for all the help. Thanks to those who were going to come out and help me. Now you have your weekend back :)
