remove trans/tcase from truck. can be easily done with the engine hoist through either front door. just lower it to the ground. remove bellhousing from trans and install on engine. install engine. then install trans/tcase. in my experience, it's much easier to wrestle the trans/tcase getting it slid into the pilot bearing, etc. then trying to wrangle the engine.

And define overdrive....

Is this a h55/5spd unit

Or

Fairy/ranger/downey unit.

Adds another piece to puzzle.

28th overdrive???

And whats the downey AF?

So which overdrive?

Was it assembled when you got it?
Im not familiar with the differences of each but trying to make thats not a culprit. Shouldnt really matter as I believe they all were direct fit to back of the tcase minus one odd ball version of fairey units that went inside the replaced rear tail cone.

I just want to marry up them together. I will do everything else. The 29th works for me. What do I need to do in meantime

Leaving aside the whole $23K thing . . .

In the meantime why not try following the advice members gave you the first time you asked this question, which is to install the engine, transmission and transfer case all together, as a single unit. Remember? installing Engine

As the saying goes, when all else fails . . . follow the instructions?

What events have I been missing?

enough funny hijacking of this post though.

To the OP looks like there is a thread of help already plus the great guys and gals in this group should be able to help you out.

This rigs can be frustrating as all hell some times so looking for help and taking a step back/breather does help quite a bit.

If this works for @David Hollenback why don't we plan for the weekend of the 29th this way everyone can plan to help and I know I can 100% commit to that weekend and we can get as many people together as we can.

Unfortunately I am out of town on vacation from 26th thru 8/13 and the following weekend we move our daughter into dorm at Clemson......post up a thread on UC if the 29th is set.

Old Red. After spending 30 hours over 3 days trying to get this thing installed I was done. I have no help and none of my friends now how to turn a wrench . I end up fixing their crap. I was going to do that next but I could not remove tranny by myself. Thanks
