All right, I'm trying to iron out the bugs on the TBI 350 swap.

I THOUGHT the yel'wht wire that came off the Toyota alt was the one I needed to use to get my charge light to work, but so far, no dice.

I'm using a CS-130 Chevy alt with the 4 pin plug and the "L" terminal needs to go to a switched IGN source using a 200-400 Ohm resistor.
I thought if I ran the "L" terminal to the yel/wht alt wire it would pass through the charge lite end give me my needed resistance, but no luck. It doesn't look like I'm getting 12V switched IGN from the yel/wht wire. The charge fuse is good and there is switched IGN flowing through the fuse, but not to the yel/wht wire.

Anyone gone through this??

Hey I got your pm. Are you having problems getting your alternator to charge? Is that the issue? The easiest way to do this is to wire in a simple light bulb. I know it seems to easy but it is really all it takes. Run your wire from alternator to your battery then run a positive to the light bulb switched with the ignition. I ran this from the point I hooked up my computer. Then run the ground from the terminal on the alternator to the other section of the light bulb. Works perfect. Since then I had my alternator rebuilt to a 1 wire so I know longer need it.

So in a nutshell. Alt to battery. -hot when ignition is on to one terminal of a small 12v automotive lightbulb. The wire coming off the 4 wire plug to the other side of the lightbulb terminal. When you turn the key on the bulb will light. When you start the car it will go out.

Thanks Kurtis!
Yes, the alt isnt charging, and your suggestion sounds perfect!
I was hoping to get the dash light to work that way so I'd keep the stock appearance, but I'll prolly go that way instead.
The guy from the alt mfgr. said to add a 200ohm resistor to the line and it seems like the bulb has the same effect.

I'm watching your thread on the AC amplifier. I hope you get it solved soon.
I've got the FSM but the wiring stuff has been hard to figure out!

I haven't posted up in that thread but I did end up getting it to work. I had the line re crimped and everything seems like its holding. With the a/c I'm defiantly going to have to work up a fan shroud though its runs to warm in traffic with the a/c on. At least in AZ with the 111 degree days lately.

Update on the alt wiring:
I ran the "L" terminal through a 200 ohm resistor to an IGN source and everything is working properly.
No CHG lite on the dash, but volts are looking good.
