Doing my seal behind the harmonic balancer today as well as the pile pump cover seal. Took off harmonic balancer and had a small pic in behind the seal pulling it out. Well....it also caught a very thin spring and pulled it out as well. Have no clue what this thing is, where it goes, etc. Want to make sure it goes back where it belongs more than anything. Here is a pic of it. Thanks for the help!

That spring is part of the old seal you removed (it helps the sealing surface keep it's shape). Look at your new seal and it has an internal spring just like the old one you pulled out. Be careful not to dislodge the spring from the new seal as you tap it into place.

The pic below is an axle seal, but you can see how the spring is part of the seal. Same concept applies to the front main seal.

Never mind!!! Girlfriend spotted it on the backside of the new one!! Hahaha have a great Mother's Day!!

Turn the tools over to the girlfriend and you go cook dinner. :flipoff2:

^^^^^^^^ Hah! Same thing I was thinking. Let the girlfriend do the repair. Sounds like a 'keeper'.

Hint: Put a little grease on the seal spring to prevent the new one from coming off when you install it.
