Hello all. 1st time asking but have appreciated much info from here since I've had my beast. '88 62 with 165k. All stock and runs pretty well.... until lately. On startup when cold it is a bitch. Will die time after time. I get it to run by punching up the throttle and getting the RPM's up. It will stay running this way until I can get on the highway and get her warmed up. If I don't keep the idle high it will die. Once it is warmed up well it pretty much runs like a top and idles fine around 1000 rpm's without any problem. Read posts about the fuel pressure regulator but seems those problems are generally the opposite. ( runs bad when warm).
Also... I'm getting really bad gas mileage and smells like running rich at times.
I'm no mechanic but can do OK with a wrench with time and patience. Want to learn to do most work on this thing myself.
Appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks in advance.
