I've had Yakima cross bars for years and hauled everything from lumber, surfboards, kayaks, etc. I bought the HF cargo basket and really like it.
I've hauled all kinds of gear in it with no complaints. Here's a pick of it loaded for a camping trip.

Personally I prefer Yakima and have had their product on nearly every vehicle I’ve owned since 1989.

we have both a Yakima and a Thule box that ride a top our Subaru’s in the winter for skis. Summer sees other attachments. Both boxes work with nearly any shape loadbar. I’ve installed Yakima on both cars but we did run the box on the OEM crossbars one winter waiting for Yakima to offer towers for the 2020 Outback. They had enough strength but rattled with the box installed.

I’ve had great luck finding boxes used on Craigslist or other marketplaces. Towers/crossbars as well.

Buying new is costly but the product is good. You will be happy if you don’t cut a corner.
