I just purchased a 2015 Series 200 LX with 86k miles on it. All of the service records I have only refer to oil changes and I have no idea how hard the previous owners were on the vehicle. So, I've compiled a list of things I will do over the next few weeks to make sure this rig is up to snuff. Please let me know if there's anything I am missing. This will be used for occasional towing (trailer and cargo is roughly 5,000 lbs). I do not have a Toyota/Lexus dealership nearby so I will be doing much of this work myself:

  1. Drain and refill the front and rear diff's (Ravenol 75w85 MTF-1)
  2. Drain and refill transfer case (Ravenol 75w MTF-3)
  3. Drain and refill power steering pump reservoir. This is a partial exchange of the total fluid capacity.
  4. Drain and refill transmission (Toyota WS fluid). This exchanges about 1/3 of the fluid and is something I'll do annually.
  5. Drain and refill coolant.
  6. Change engine oil and filter.
  7. Replace engine air filter.
  8. Drain and refill brake fluid reservoir
  9. Replace spark plugs with NGK Iridium (I think they're due at 90k).
Anything else? Are there any service bulletins or known defects with these rigs? I'm just thankful I don't have to worry about a timing belt. Thank you in advance!!

I'd do AHC fluid, too. Make sure to look up videos (youtube) how it's done properly. There is a wealth of information in this forum, too.

Definitely do this, but GIANT CAUTION HERE, there has been a rash of bad fluid coming strait from dealers. After you get the AHC fluid, inspect it in some other clear container before you put it in the truck. There are few threads on this with multiple people finding a gel like substance in the fluid that clogs the pump, probably leading to pump failure. I'm not sure if there has been a report yet of someone who revived a pump that got the bad fluid.

I'd add PCV valve as a quick easy replacement to get to a known good state. Just don't twist it too hard.

Make sure you radiator isn't failing (crack in top there are many threads on this).

Grease zerks in the drive train drive shafts.

Change the cabin filter, BUT BE SURE TO PUT THE HVAC SYSTEM IN RECIRC FIRST. Too many blend doors have been broken by forcing it open due to not having the system in recirculate.

You might consider a full brake fluid flush. If what you have in there is 6 years old, it’s worth flushing it out and not just drain and fill the reservoir. It doesn’t circulate.
