I bought this FJ80 from the man who imported it in 2020, He is from Ft Collins. The vehicle runs great and is mechanically sound, I would not hesitate to take it cross country. The majority of the miles we put on this cruiser was driving it to a cabin in MN each year, that was about 14 hours each way. Not a problem with 75-80 mph on the interstate unless there is a serious head wind. The console has a small refrigerator that works great. I have not tried to freeze ice but there are two small ice trays in it. The sun roof does not leak, I don’t use it when I have the tent/rack on. Fuel economy seems to be 25-35kmg or 15-21mpg. It does really well at 72mph.
Here are the things we have had done since owning it.
ARB Bull bumper, OME lift, fox shocks, 5 BFG K02, 5 Black Steelie rims, Curt Hitch, Rooftop tent, Bowfin Cruisers toprack and mounts, Stereo and door speakers, exhaust, 2 new batteries,
Big End Rod End bearings, Timing Belt – 13568-19065, Idler Pulley – 13505-17011, Spring Tensioner – 90507-27003, Camshaft Seal – 90311-32020, Aisin waterpump 16100-19235.
The details on the lift and shocks
2 x OME 851 Front Coil Springs-heavy
2 x OME 860 Rear Coil Springs-medium
-Front shocks - 2x Fox 2.0 IPF 985-24-070
-Rear shocks - 2x Fox 2.0 IPF 985-24-073
1 x SD24 Steering Damper-81
1 x CA77B Caster Kit-116
1 x Caster Bushing Press Piece
Following are all of the things I would change or fix if I was going to keep this FJ.
Rust in the bottom of the doors and on the back window, a little on the side rear windows. There are two doors included with this cruiser. Same paint code.
The drivers side electric motor works intermittently.
There are two small holes in the drivers seat
There is a black mark on the drivers side rear seat
There is a squeak from the tent rack that I can’t seem to find
I have the original wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 tires, Original front bumper, original radio, original back curtains, two rust free doors in the same color
