Pretty new to this site and really new to FJ40s. Purchased my 1972 FJ40 last summer off Craigslist in NC and have been driving around town loving life. When I first bought it, I had a mechanic adjust the timing and engage the front drum brakes but was told at that time that it was still “running pretty rich”. Now I’ve saved some more money and am looking to make a few upgrades. Thinking I need a new carburetor (and maybe disc brakes if it’s in the budget).
My questions are: (1) how much can I expect to spend on a new carburetor and (2) does anyone have a good mechanic in Nashville that knows these rigs?
