Looks like that would greatly reduce the amount of mess made with an oil change.
Adding that to the list...
Also, if you punch a hole in the filter, it will allow much of the oil to drain back into the block and reduce the mess. I do like flintknapper's idea of the baggie and will also try that.
 
@surfpig is that the D3 Toyota filter on the Ford 90° adapter? No leaks or issues?
 
Yep, just reach up there with a baggie, unscrew the filter, no mess...no fuss. It DOES put a Ford product on your Toyota however.... and some consider that blasphemous.
You can grind that off.
