My cruiser started running a little rough and was losing power / not easily accelerating past 45mph.
We went up a hill and it started this sound:

The sound is reproducible in 2 and L @3krpm. In D to really struggles around ~17krpm

Pulled over to give it a look and it was kinda chugging while idling:

Any change in oil pressure? Hate to say it, but that sounds an awful lot like a rod knock...

I bought my 93 and it had the same sound (seller disclosed the info and I paid accordingly)..,

Swapped titles, fueled up, made it 6 miles till the rod let go and punched a hole in the pan...

I wouldn't drive it if I were you, it's a lot cheaper to fix now than when it scatters...

One thing you could do it drain the oil into a clean container and see if you see metal fragments..

I always either run a magnetic drain plug or put a magnet on the bottom of the sump, then pull the magnet before draining, it keeps the metal on the bottom of the pan...

Good luck and I hope I'm wrong...

Thanks fellas.

I HOPE it's not terminal!

It's parked now.

If the cruiser is parked and I'm laying on the gas, there is no sound.
Hoping that's good news.

I'm taking it to a mechanic in the am.

Hold the brakes down tight, hit the gas a bit and take a listen. This replicates driving load.
